The CCCA Canadian Art Database - UPDATE
The Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Institute for Studies in Canadian Art has been the permanent home of the CCCA Canadian Art Database since 2013. Created by Bill Kirby in 1997, it was one of the first online projects focused on the documentation and dissemination of information about Canadian art and artists on
the World Wide Web.
The project expanded substantially over the 25 years since it was established and the Jarislowsky Institute had been planning to give it a long overdue upgrade. Unfortunately,
we discovered that the age and complex customization of the original database software, along with the need to find a replacement for
Adobe Flash Player, which is no longer supported, had made the envisioned upgrade impractical.
We will continue to make the Website available to the public in its present form and, as we investigate alternative presentation solutions, we hope you will continue to
enjoy and make use of the extensive content housed in the CCCA Canadian Art Database.
