Diane Whitehouse

Winnipeg, Manitoba
[Birmingham, England, 1940]

Diane studied painting at the Birmingham College of Art. She did postgraduate work at Bergen Kunsthandverskole, Bergen, Norway. After immigrating to Edmonton, Alberta she became a Canadian citizen. Subsequently, she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she continues to live and work.

Diane has taught painting at the University of Alberta, The Banff Centre for the Arts, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and the School of art, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. She is a founding member of Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA) and <SITE> Gallery, both in Winnipeg. She has served as a board member for the St. Norbert Arts and Cultural Centre, Plug In Gallery and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. From 1984-88 she was appointed to the Canada Council Advisory Committee and from 1975-77 she served on the Alberta Art Foundation Review Committee.
