Reva Stone

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Reva Stone creates installations that engage a variety of electronic technologies – interactive installations, robotics, and responsive 3-D environments.

Reva’s work has been exhibited extensively across Canada. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours from the University of Manitoba in 1985, and since has been a vital member of the Winnipeg arts community. She has served on the boards of Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art (MAWA), Video Pool Inc., and Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art. She was one of a consortium of virtual directors for MAWA between 1994 and 1997, as well as a MAWA mentor in 1990, 1994, 1998, and 2003. Between 1985 and 2002 she participated in the Manitoba Arts Council’s Artists in the Schools Program. In 2001, she co-edited an anthology with Vera Lemecha entitled The Multiple and Mutable Subject, published by the St. Norbert Arts Centre, St. Norbert, Manitoba.

Reva has received numerous awards and grants, including a Canada Council New Media Production Grant and a Manitoba Major Art Grant. In 2002, her robotic work, Carnevale 3.0, received an honorable mention from Life 5.0, Art & Artificial Life International Competition, Fundación Telefónica, Madrid, Spain.
