Valerie LeBlanc

Valerie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
She currently lives and works in Calgary, Alberta.

Valerie has been producing short independent videos since 1986. Her video poetry has been screened in more than thirty festivals and exhibitions including: The WOW Womans' Film & Video Festival in New York, NY; The National Gallery Of Canada, Ottawa, ON; the Atlantic Film Festival, Halifax, NS. Recent videos include Summerquote, The Principal Dancer and Pilgrim?s Progress. Recently awarded a Canada Council Grant in the Spoken and Electronic Words Program, Valerie is currently working on TIME TRAVEL IN THIS MOMENT, a streaming video website / CD-ROM project based on her writing.

A Master of Fine Arts Graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, TIME ARTS Program, she currently teaches in the Media Arts and Digital Technology Department at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Alberta. Valerie holds the viewpoint that the marketing of culture is moving forward far more quickly than culture itself, or the human capacity to assimilate its quantum leaps.?
