Oviloo Tunnillie

Born: December 20, 1949 at one of several ancestral camps her family occupied before settling in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Qikiqtaaluk (Baffin Island), Nunavut in the late 1960's. The artist made her first carving in 1966 when she was seventeen years old and began her thirty year exploration of the medium in 1972. Tunnillie recently left Kinngait and moved to Toronto with her family in 2001. She is currently spending time in both Ottawa and Montreal.
