A two-part project featuring 50 non-literal self-portraits, and an interactive installation by Anthony F. Saad, designed to explore the nature of the traditional self-portrait. By challenging artists to create non-literal representations of self, this exhibit will redefine the artistic possibilities of the self-portrait.
During the evening visitors will be able to participate in the creation of the FACE IT HEAD ON group portrait by entering a “photo booth” in the gallery where video capture technology will photograph the visitor's face and add it to a library of portraits in real time. These images will be combined with images of the participating artists and their work to be projected onto the window of the gallery, visible from the street. The composite community portrait will morph over time and with each new participant.
