Archival Dialogues: Reading the Black Star Collection
Exhibition

32 - 33 Gould Street

Launch exhibition featuring work by internationally-renowned Canadian artists created in response to the Black Star Collection of photojournalistic prints.

Each artist has read the archive in their own way and created a new work of art in response to their selection made from the Collection. By commissioning new works, curators Doina Popescu and Peggy Gale enable vibrant examinations, complex re-contextualizations, and exciting contemporary re-interpretations of the historic images.

As viewers of these artistsí works we are offered the rare opportunity to experience the potential for multiple layers of meaning hidden in the archive, while being invited to explore some of the creative processes behind these art practices.
