Kelly Mark has applied her interest in film and popular culture to use music for the first time in this, her fantasy directorial debut. Repetitive, mundane tasks of everyday life are the sorts of things that have provided revealing pathos and humour in Mark‘s past work. Lifting iconic scenes from popular films and television programs and re-staging them without dialogue, then replaying them with alternating scores, reflects her understanding of the atmospheric effects of a score and underlines her interest in how the soundtrack radically alters the way the piece is perceived. The selected music is either songs that the artist has always felt would be great film scores or, alternately, tunes that she remembers from films because they have made such a strong impression on her.

Artist Biography: Kelly Mark was born in Welland, Ontario in 1967 and is based in Toronto. She completed a BFA in 1994 at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design (N.S.C.A.D.).
