The film Les Bosquets brings the audience to a place where art and the power of image interweave. Based on the story of Ladj Ly, the performance of the ballet Les Bosquets for the New York City Ballet (2014) and inspired by the riots in the French suburbs in 2005.

JR reveals his experience in the ghetto of Montfermeil where he created his first project, Portrait of a Generation.

"I've used various means of expression, narration, video archives, choreography and testimony to illustrate this deeply personal and evolving exhibition." – JR

This short film will be presented exclusively in galleries and museum shows.

JR exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who are typically not museum visitors. As he remains anonymous and doesn't explain his large scale full-frame portraits of people making faces, JR leaves the space for an encounter between the subject/protagonist and the passer-by/interpreter. JR's work is about raising questions…
