The CCCA Canadian Art Database Project was established in 1997 by Bill Kirby, Founder and Director of the Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art.

Since 2013, it has been permanently housed at Concordia University in Montreal, under the auspices of the Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Institute for Studies in Canadian Art, a Research Centre within the Faculty of Fine Arts.

The underlying objective of the CCCA Canadian Art Database has been to broaden public awareness of contemporary Canadian Art in Canada and abroad by documenting the careers of some of Canada's leading professional artists, designers, art writers and curators, as well as some important Canadian art institutions and organizations that have helped shape the Canadian art scene since the 1960s.

UPGRADE NOTICE

The CCCA Canadian Art Database is an important resource for the study and promotion of Canadian art and artists, and the Jarislowsky Institute had been planning to give the Project a long overdue upgrade.

Unfortunately, we discovered that the age and extensive customization of the original database software, along with the need to find a replacement for Adobe Flash Player, which is no longer supported, had made the envisioned upgrade impractical.

The Jarislowsky Institute will continue to make the Website available to the public in its present form and, as we pursue alternative solutions, we hope you will continue to enjoy and make use of the extensive content housed in the CCCA Canadian Art Database.
