Selwyn Dewdney

Selwyn Dewdney was an artist and writer who had a strong interest in psychoanalysis. He taught at Sir Adam Beck Collegiate Institute from 1941-1947, before he was appointed psychiatric art therapist at London's Westminster Hospital in 1952. With his wife, Irene, he helped to pioneer art therapy in Canada.
He was an active member of the local arts community, serving as Executive Director of the Artists' Workshop and President of the Western Art League. Dewdney is also noted for documenting hundreds of First Nations pictographic sites. He authored several books and papers throughout his career.
